Obituary For Barbara J. Hart
Barbara Jean Hart, Austinburg, Age 73, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic from congenital heart failure. Barbara was born September 2, 1944, in Ashtabula, and was the daughter of Donald E. and Clarette (Langford) Borner. Barbara graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1962. After high school she worked at the Ashtabula Star Beacon as a telatypist, and Reliance in the drafting department. Later she helped manage the books for Hart Eggs, Inc. In Addition, Barbara worked for Geneva Area City Schools for 24 years as a bus driver. She met the love of her life, John J. Hart, at the Coffee Creek Horse Arena. John and Barbara married on June 19, 1965. Throughout their 53 years of married life, they shared their love of family, quarter horses and cattle.
Barb and John traveled all over northeast United States and Canada going to rodeos and ropings. She was one of the first women team ropers from this area. One of her favorite memories was winning the team roping event in an International Rodeo Association Rodeo in Beckley, West Virginia.
Barb and John hosted many ropings at their family farm in Austinburg. She enjoyed keeping the rodeo spirit alive and helped to create the Ropers' Dope Newsletter, which kept ropers informed of the scheduled ropings and rodeos in the Tri-State area, and included their results, as well.
Barb's interests in animals soon included showing cattle. She encouraged her daughters to become involved in 4-H, a program that she had been involved in her youth. She and John became co-advisors with Barbara & Al Craine of the Beef-A-Teers 4-H Club. Some of her best memories were traveling to cattle shows with her family and their friends.
Barbara will always be remembered for her delicious meals and pies. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and family with fabulous dinners. They will forever miss her pecan rolls, clothespin pastries, and beautiful pies.
Barbara's later years were devoted to spoiling her 8 grandchildren, whom were the apple of her eye! She lived especially for them, after battling breast cancer twice. She spent many years on ancestry.com working on the family tree so that her grandchildren would know their heritage.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband and primary caregiver, John J. Hart; her beloved daughters; Susan H. (Rob) Jackam of Austinburg, and Christy (Allen) Johnson of Dalton; her grandchildren, Laura, Rebecca, Daniel, and John Jackam, Clay, Grant, Kylee and Bryce Johnson; Siblings; Donna Meehl, Mary Lou Covell of Geneva, Don (Marge) Borner of New Port Richey, Florida, June (Gary) Lencl of Kingsville, Cathy (Wayne) Pelton of Jefferson; loving nieces and nephews; and special friends.
