Obituary For Chester C. Rupert

Reverend Chester Charles Rupert

Born: 6/15/1931 in Akron, OH to Ralph and Anita Rupert

Chet was the last surviving member of the 1949 class of Springfield High School in Akron.

Drafted into the army in 1951, he served as a medic while stationed in Panama and at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC

After several early career attempts, Chet found his true purpose as our Lord called him into the ministry. He was ordained into the United Methodist Church in 1968 and served the East Ohio Conference in several charges including the Bowerston charge (Leesville, Bowerston, Conotton), the Otsego charge (Bethel, Adamsville, Otsego), and Thompson. Even after retirement in 1994, he was called on by the conference to mentor numerous young pastors.

He is survived by his loving wife Marilouise (Evans) Rupert who had been married for 71 years, his children Ralph (Loraine), Beth (the late Jeff Ziegler), Sue (Jeff), Karl (Elizabeth), and Anita (Howard), 14 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.

His faith, integrity, and discipleship has left a far reaching legacy to so many that are too numerous to count.

Calling Hours: Saturday July 19, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Eagleville Bible Church, Rt 45, Rock Creek. Celebration of Life following with Ralph and Karl Rupert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please attend church on Sunday or go plant a tree

I just received The Old Apple Tree which had Chet's obituary in it. I just got The Old Apple Tree that said that Chet had passed on to Heaven. I am sorry to hear that. We have fond memories of spending time with you and Chet at your home in the wooden area. I know that Jim and Chet are in Heaven now celebrating Chet's arrival. If you feel lonely or just want to talk, call me anytime. I am on facebook also, and have an email address. Jenny Barcus

My most favorite image of Chet is his upraised arm waving as he hurried down the aisle at Adamsville arriving after our service had started. We followed Otsego in the 3 part charge, then he went to Bethel. I can only imagine both upraised arms now as he enjoys his well earned reward and sees the Lord he has loved and served so faithfully. How very grateful Larry and I still are for his teaching and preaching and leadership in our young married and Christian life. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all!

What a great man of God, He inspired so many. I'm blessed to have known him. Teaching me how to paint and showing me his love for Jesus! He will always be remembered! Prayers for all the family for comfort and peace. Love Geri Kamler
