Obituary For Edward John Cicenas

Edward J. Cicenas 1923 - 2020

Edward J. Cicenas, passed away at the age of 97 Tuesday, September 29th at 9:38pm. Born in Cleveland, he was a resident of Lake County for about 70 years.

During WWII, Ed served in the 97th Naval Construction Battalion Seabees, drafting plans for airfields in England and helping with the backbreaking labor of pouring hardstands and runways. He helped plan and construct many of the camps and hospitals throughout England. His hand lettering was of such perfection, he was asked to stay in London after the war ended to organize and label the photographs of Normandy Beach for the Library of Congress. Ed worked before and after his service with the Navy at Euclid Electric as a draftsman and retired from Hubbell Industrial Controls as the drafting department manager.

In his later years, he and wife Harriet enjoyed polka dancing and listening to polka music together. He loved drawing and painting, gardening, birdwatching, and the outdoors. On most days, it was difficult to get him in the house. Ed was a dedicated employee and amazing father.

He was the loving husband to Harriet Cicenas, and a wise and dedicated father to Cindy Kozane (Bill), Chris Cicenas (Dinah), Karen Rumora (Matt) and Lorraine Harman (Randy); a beloved grandfather to Kyle Kozane (Paige), Nick Harman (Bethany+), Cole Rumora, Zach Harman, Rosa Rumora and John Cicenas. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony Cicenas; and child, Cary Cicenas.

A private burial will take place at Perry Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, fill a bird feeder in his honor.

Arrangements are entrusted to Walker Funeral Home.
