Obituary For Herman Lee York

Reverend Herman Lee York

Reverend Herman Lee York, age 83, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2019. Passing peacefully at UH Geneva Medical Center. He was born May 30, 1936 to Robert and Mary (Vance) York in Louisa, KY. He married Mary (Justice) on August 17, 1957 in Louisa, KY.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife Mary of over 62 years; four daughters, Mary (Kevin) Barnett of Blairsville, PA, Fredia (Michael) McGee, Vicky (Wayne) Wade of Geneva and Patsy (Jim) Neubert of Madison; four sons, Lloyd (Amy) York of Lake City, MN, James (Robin) York, Charles (Vickie) York, and Herman (Lona) York all of Geneva; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; Siblings Steven (Jean) York, Paul York and Betty Isaac of Louisa, Kentucky; along with his church family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his son Herman York Jr., grandson David McGee, parents and seven siblings.

A hard worker his entire life, he is retired from Willow Hill Industries in Willoughby, and as a Minister with the Free Pentecostal Fellowship Church in Geneva. Still active in the church he was a daily bible reader, active member of Bible Study, sang in the choir, liked to play the guitar, fish, play ball and farm.

He was the founder and president of the Free Pentecostal Fellowship Church and a member of the AFL-CIO.

Calling Hours will be Monday, December 30, 2019 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Free Pentecostal Fellowship Church at 3138 N. County Line Rd. in Geneva. Funeral Service will follow with Reverend Jack Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Madison Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to the Free Pentecostal Fellowship Church.

Arrangements are under the care of Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St. in Geneva.

    Dad loved his family unconditionally but loved God more! We didnt lose him....we know he is in Heaven. Jesus welcomed him with open arms and said well done my good and faithful servant. When preplanning his final arrangements all he wanted was for us to point people to the Cross. All his Hope was in Jesus!
