Obituary For James Robert Sistek

James Robert “Bob” Sistek of Saybrook, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 18, 2023 in Concord.

He was born August 27, 1932 in Cleveland. “Bob” worked in the family-owned Arcade Fish Company in Ashtabula while attending school. He joined the Air Force in March of 1952 and served in Mito, Japan, earning the National Defense Medal, and was honorably discharged in February 1956. After that he worked at the Harbor Fish Market in Ashtabula where he met Connie Kauffman, whom he married December 27, 1958. They had four children, Carol (Brian Perala); Debbie (Alfonso Santos); Shari (Joe Siesel) and James Jr. ”Bob” worked for Firestone, then Reliance Electric, where he retired.

“Bob” is survived by his wife, Connie; their children; siblings: Bill (Lynn); Betty; grandchildren: David Perala (Amanda); Kaylee Perala (Denny); Eric Sistek and Luisa Santos; great- grandchildren: Deric, Bellamy, Beau Sistek, Denny Karmanski; nieces: Tina Green, Meri and Suzy Sistek.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose (Placek) Sistek.

“Bob” loved his family and the outdoors, and spent many hours with his children and grandchildren fishing in his pond, playing magic tricks, sled riding, taking walks, picking wild blackberries, making origami boats and airplanes and drawing cowboy doodles. He also enjoyed plowing snow with his Jeep. "Bob” was a member of Assumption Church and the Geneva VFW.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Assumption Church, 30 Lockwood St. in Geneva on October 24, 2023 at 10:00AM. Father Daniel Finnerty will be officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison. Military Honors by Madison American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112.
