Obituary For John S. Morse

John “Johnny” S. Morse, age 77 of Geneva, passed February 6, 2023 in Lake County. Born on May 10, 1945 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, he was the son of David & Elizabeth (Van De Boe) Morse and was a Geneva resident most of his life. He married Anna M. Martello on September 19, 1970 in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Johnny served in the US Army as a Mechanic. After his service to his country, he used his mechanical skills and operated his own business, “Johnny’s Texaco” and “Johnny’s Service Center” as well as worked at Geneva Pipeline. In his free time some of the many things he enjoyed was racing Dune Buggies, Nascar, small engine repair, yard work, camping, watching Cleveland Sports (Browns, Indians & Cavaliers) and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Johnny was known as a kind hearted & friendly person. Many days he could be seen sitting on his porch waving to people passing by. His greatest joy though was time spent with his family.

Survivors include Anna, his loving wife of over 52 years, and his daughter Theresa (Allan) Smith of Madison. He is also survived by his grandchildren Courtney (Zack) Grien, Nick Smith; his great grandson Leo Grien, all of Madison and his brother David (Pat) Morse Jr. of Florida.

Preceding him are his Parents; siblings Katherine “Casey” Morse-Fischer, Linda Patterson, Ellen Morse, Kelly Morse; and his nephew David Morse.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Geneva VFW Post # 6846, 76 Depot St., from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Military Honors by Geneva VFW Post #6846 Honor Guard at 1:30pm that day.

I was one of John's aides at Rae Ann. I only knew him for a short time, but from the moment I met him, I knew he was someone who's personality would stick with me forever. He was sweet, loving, and had a huge heart. Despite whatever was going on with him, he always cared more about those around him. He was forever smiling and happy to see everyone. He was the first person I'd go see on my shift and the last I'd visit before I leave, even if I wasn't assigned to his wing. He was a joy to be around and he will be sorely missed. <3

I was a classmate of Johnny - always remembered him as a nice guy. I saw him many times sitting on his porch waving to those he knew. It will be sad not seeing him there. Condolences to the family.
