OBITUARIES

Joseph "Joe" Petro, age 83, a long-time resident of Geneva, passed away on December 5th at UH Geauga Health Center. He was born October 29, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph E. and Mary Ann Petro. He married Loretta Jean Berrier on April 15, 1961 in Geneva. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Joe was previously employed with True Temper, Coca-Cola and the Recycling Center all in Geneva.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his Grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed watching them play high school sports and watching them show steers at the Ashtabula County Fair.

Joe enjoyed gardening and had his own Produce Stand and was affectionately known as "Zucchini Joe".

He was a member of the Assumption Church in Geneva.

He is survived by his loving wife Loretta of 58 years; Children: Michael E. (Lisa) Petro of Trumbull Twp., Cathie Cellitti (Randy Dearing) of Jefferson and Joseph A. Petro of Geneva; 6 Grandchildren: Michael, Zachary and Jared Petro, Kaylee Van Loocke, Kristi and Katelyn Cellitti and one Great Grandchild: Lillianna Van Loocke.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

At Joe's request, a private funeral will be held with Father Daniel Finnerty of the Assumption Church officiating.

Burial Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Geneva VFW Post 6846 rendering Military Honors.
