Obituary For Margaret Ann O'Baker

Margaret A. O’Baker

Sunday, November 6, 2022, Margaret could be seen walking the streets of gold with her 2 year old son, receiving a warm smile and the loving words from Jesus, “Welcome home”.

Margaret was born October 18, 1930 to Ervin & Margaret (Cousins) Schwartz in Geneva, Ohio where she lived most of her 92 years of life. She married C. Robert O’Baker on June 20, 1957, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage.

Marge as she was known by many, had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was first in her life. She loved to read His Word, devotionals and would speak to Him on a daily basis; raising praise and prayers for her family, friends and her country. Second to her love for Christ, was her love for her family. She cherished her relationships with her parents, sisters and their families, her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Closeness of family was so important to her. She was the biggest fan of everyone in the family, no matter what they were doing she would be rooting them on. She was very creative and loved to crochet and create things with flower arranging. In the spring and summer you could find her in her flower gardens or at the beach with her sisters, she loved the sun and the sand! Christmas was her favorite holiday, she just loved buying/making, wrapping and giving gifts to each and every one in the family. Decorating for Christmas was her favorite, (although she decorated for them all!). She had a large collection of Santa Clauses and Angels with many that she left out all year! The Pittsburgh Steelers were her favorite team and Big Ben her favorite Quarterback. When they played you could hear her cheering them on all the way in Pittsburg from her home in Geneva. John Wayne, the Duke had a special place in her heart and watching westerns was one of her favorite pass times. Old movies were another fun pass time especially the ones with dancing in them as she always loved to dance and we know she was looking forward to dancing before her Savior!

Marge graduated Geneva High School in 1948, where she was a cheerleader and remained a devout Geneva Eagles fan rooting for her kids, grandkids and great grandkids in all of their sporting, band and theater events. She worked at several grocery stores in town prior to having children at which time she remained a stay at home mom until her youngest was in school. Then she could be found working at Austinburg Elementary as the playground attendant and she ultimately retired from Kmart where she worked in the Women’s Clothing Department. In her later years, she could be found working in her flower gardens, crocheting, working Sudoku puzzles, enjoying her family.

Survivors include her husband, daughters; Denise (Gary) Shaw, Peg (John) Novak, Karen (Charles) Porter, and Edna O’Baker; Grandchildren; Kimberly (Will) Johnson, Gary (Jaci) Shaw, Kelly Montgomery, Rory (Erika) Shaw, Katie (Kyle) Esparza, Thomas Robertson, Jonathan (Kayla) Porter, Stephen (Katie) Robertson, Chloe Porter, and Kyle (Makenna) Robertson. Both tears of joy and mourning this morning. Joy that my friend is with her Lord. Mourning because a lady who simply loved me because i was me would take time every so often and bake the most perfect dutch apple pie for me. Such a priceless memory from a precious woman. May the God of peace bring comfort to the family.
