Obituary For Martha Ellen (Bates) Penhollow

Martha Ellen Penhollow 1931 ~ 2021 Martha Ellen Penhollow, age 90 of Geneva, passed away on July 16, 2021 in Painesville. She was born April 15, 1931 in Harpersfield to Charles & Martha (Shaughnessy) Bates. She married Raymond M. Penhollow on June 16, 1951 in Perry, Ohio and they spent 49 loving years together before his passing in 2000. Mrs. Penhollow was a member of the Church of Christ in Unionville and the Blue Star Mothers in Geneva. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, sewing, watching old movies and was an avid reader. She previously worked in the gift shop of Geneva Hospital.

She will be deeply missed by her family including her daughter Peggy (Larry) Hamilton of Painesville; sons Raymond Penhollow Jr. of Willoughby and Rex (Donna) Penhollow of Painesville; seven grandchildren Brian (Kim) Hamilton, Dustin (Rebecca) Hamilton, Geoff Penhollow, Rachel (Will) Moran, Katie (Ryan) Briggs, Kelli (Tracy) Brickey, and Zach (Hannah) Penhollow; ten great grandchildren Connor, Declan, Tate, Edison, Nick, Alex, Ashley, Brooke, Avery, Miles; and her sister Betty Maurer of Wellington, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; a grandson Raymond Penhollow III; granddaughter Amy, her Parents; sisters Mary Watts and Dorothy Stoltz; brothers John Bates, Edward Bates and Charles Bates. Also preceding her is her best friend, Doris Spackman.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. Officiating will be family and friends. Visitation will be earlier that day from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110 Arrangements are under the care of Walker Funeral Home, Geneva.
