Nola Ruth Morey 1927 ~ 2021
Nola R. Morey, age 93, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, April 5. She was born on December 12, 1927 in Geneva and was the daughter of Clarence and Julia (Miller) Warren Holmes. She married William Morey on June 16, 1956. She lived her entire life in Geneva. She was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church for 82 years and also was a member of the Altar Guild and Wesleyan Circle, helped at the church Grape Jamboree dinners and helped put together the church’s newsletter. She also served on the Friends of the Library committee at Geneva Public Library and the Spencer High School reunion committee from where she graduated in 1945. She worked at the gas company in Geneva after graduation and then was a homemaker for many years before returning to work as a church secretary. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and her cats and had cats throughout her life. She was also an avid reader and loved books.
She was preceded in death by her husband William, who she was married to for 49 years, her parents and sister Margaret (Peg) Harcourt.
She is survived by her children Janice Vincent and James Morey of Geneva, OH and Susan (Paul) Bliss of Erie, PA, grandsons Scott (Doris) Vincent, Kevin (Danielle) Vincent, Randy Vincent, and Paul (Sarah) Bliss and great grandchildren Arieanna Dubecky and Jude and Ariel Bliss and her close niece Sherry Gleason.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 9 from 11 to Noon, service immediately following with Rev. Randy May of Geneva First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Oh.
At this time the family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides from Geneva Village and Hospice of the Western Reserve who took such good care of our mom and showed her love and compassion.
