Obituary For Norman J Hopkins

Norman J. Hopkins, died April 21, 2023. Son of Floyd and Mabel Hopkins, Norm married Roberta (Bird) Mae Shepard on May 12, 1956 and entered the military service in the U.S. Army, serving as a drummer for the 3rd Division Army Band from 1955 to 1957 and a member of the Local Musicians Union #107 for 39 years.

He earned an associate degree in electronics from DeVry Technical Institute, retiring as a Systems Analyst in 2001. Elder of the former First Christian Church, he was a member of Geneva United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by father and mother, stepsister Geneva Ruth Agnew, stepbrother and sister Lou and Delores Bush, and son Michael J. Hopkins.

He is survived by stepbrother Paul Carpenter, stepsisters Loretta Stroud, Velma Pasanen, Thelma Morris, and stepbrother Mel Carpenter. Also survived by his wife Roberta, son Dale (Terrie) Hopkins, daughter Linda DeVito, son Jesse (Debbie) Hopkins, daughter-n-law Tina Hopkins, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Norm was a member of the Data Processing Management Association, the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals, and an investment club, enjoying buying and selling at auctions and sales.

Calling Hours: Wednesday April, 26,2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva

Funeral: Thursday April 27, 2023 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Randy May of Geneva United Methodist Church officiating.

Military Honors will be performed by the Geneva VFW Post 6846 Honor Guard.

Donations can be made to Hospice of Western Reserve, Ashtabula.

    I will miss Norman at our family reunions . He was such a great guy and will be greatly missed by everyone I know . Thoughts and prayers go out to Bird, Dale, Jessie ,Linda and the rest of the family 🌺

    To Birdie and family so sorry for your loss. I will miss our chats on the phone. We spent many times talking about the family tree. I got so much information from Norman and each time I look at the family tree he will be in my thoughts with love. Will miss you cuz. ❤️
