Obituary For Richard "Dick" Lew Stiffler
Richard Lew (Dick) Stiffler age 88, died peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2018 in N. Canton, Ohio. He spent most of his life in Geneva until 2006 when moving to Hartville to be closer to family. He was born on Monday, July 22, 1929 to Vernon Leslie and Geraldine Pearle (Stone) Stiffler in Cleveland, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents and joined in heaven by his sister Nancy L. Stiffler Davis.
Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lola Mary (Schwentker) Stiffler, his son Steve and daughter in law Lauralee, grandchildren, Tim, Bill, Erin and Allyson, and great grandchildren, Sara, Grayson and Bennett.
Dick was a Marine in the Korean War and retired from Geneva True Temper after 32 years. He was a Volunteer for the Geneva Fire Department for 25 years. Dick loved his family, the outdoors and his fellow Geneva volunteer firemen. He loved taking his family on boat rides, fishing on Lake Erie, camping at the state parks and chocolate ice cream. He will be welcomed in heaven by his fishing buddy, Eddie Bernardo. He left behind a lifetime of great memories and enough fishing gear for the whole family.
Calling Hours: 1:00-2:00 pm, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. Service directly at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Shirley Deemer officiating. Geneva VFW Post #6846 Color Guard will do the Military Honors and the Geneva Fire Department Honor Guard doing the last call for Dick Stiffler
Interment: Mechanicsville Cemetery, Austinburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Geneva Fire Department at 44 North Forest Street, Geneva, Ohio 44041
