Obituary For Rose Marie McGraw

Rose Marie McGraw (nee Mitchell) Born in Cleveland, Ohio on 09/28/1924, the daughter of Tom and Josephine (Tarantina) Mitchell. In 1926, the family moved to Martha Ave in Geneva. Rose attended the Platt R. Spencer School all 12 years. Rose played the snare drum in the school band and graduated in 1942. Pearl Harbor was invaded in 1941 and we were at war. All the guys were drafted into the armed services following graduation. Following graduation, Rose worked for two years in World War II plants in Cleveland. Travel to Cleveland to work meant a round trip every week-end from the Geneva Depot to the terminal in Cleveland. Joining her Aunt Margaret Tarantina Martin in the year 1944, they attended the White Cross Beauty and Cosmetology School in Cleveland. In 1945 they opened The Rosa-Mar Beauty Salon. Frank Tersigni, a close friend of Tom McGraw’s, suggested a double-date in February of 1946, and they were married in September of 1946. It lasted for 62 years. They were members of the Assumption Church in Geneva. They enjoyed bowling, square dancing and traveling by RV. Rose is survived by a sister: Louisa Mitchell Donato of Concord; Son: James (Barbara) McGraw of Concord; Daughter: Janis (Tom) Thress, of Geneva; Grandchildren: Matthew (Brianna) McGraw of North Carolina; Amanda (Brad) Green of Atlanta, GA; Steve (Heather) Thress of Painesville; Three Great-Grandchildren: Zachery and Grayson Thress and Alex Green. Rose was preceded in death by husband: Tom; Sister: Helen (Jack) Preston, and her Parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. walkergeneva.com
