Obituary For Terry L. Simpson

We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of Terry Linn Simpson. He passed on the evening of January 21, 2024 in his beloved town of Geneva, Ohio after a brief illness and hospitalization. Terry was 76 years old.

The son of Edith and Dwight Simpson, he is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Patricia Simpson; two beautiful daughters Becky Simpson Bissonnette and Kim Simpson Igwe; five wonderful grandchildren - Theodore and Anabelle Bissonnette, Joseph, David and Olivia Igwe; niece Lori (McQueen) Frantz; Great-nephew Chad Frantz; great-great nephew Zane Frantz; sons-in-law Etienne Bissonnette and Phillip Igwe; his Brother-in-law William Purcell; sister-in-law Karen Simpson and nephew Trevor Simpson.

Terry was well educated, having obtained a Master of History degree from Kent State University. He worked as an educator at Ledgemont Schools and then as a librarian at Geneva Public Library.

He will be remembered as a local historian and benevolent storyteller who was ready to teach any listener something new as well as the kind librarian who generously gave his time to research students’ academic interests. He was a good, kind, and selfless person who became a Bible scholar and worshipped at People’s Church in Geneva for many years.

Above all, Terry was a devoted family man who traveled often and shared many adventures with his cherished wife of 53 years, Pat Simpson. He deeply loved his daughters and celebrated all their accomplishments throughout his life with immense joy. He lovingly embraced his grandchildren and religiously wrote them postcards daily - always sharing well-thought-out insights and stories.

We love you, Terry, and you will be sorely missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life at People’s Church at 300 South Ridge Road East on Friday, January 26: calling hours at 10:30 and service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Geneva Public Library.

Terry always had a bit of knowledge he would share at our bible study groups. We looked forward to his sharing of knowledge, any trivia and personal viewpoints on the subject at hand. Thank you, Terry. We'll miss you!

My deepest condolences. Mr. Simpson was one of my favorite teachers. He encouraged us all to be better people. I think he remembered every student he taught.
